HOUSE IYAMBO
Auasblick, Windhoek, Namibia
There is no better way to represent the idea of minimalism than to have a white house, elegantly perched on a high point with spectacular views.
Located on the corner of Sierra street in Auasblick; House Iyambo, as desired by the client, presents an unpretentious simple yet elegant form that is based on the principals of minimalism.
With a striking entry framed between four large columns, the house opens into a well laid out and straight forward floor plan, with semi-public spaces located on the ground floor and the private spaces on the first floor.
These spaces branch out from singular axis, situated on both ground floor and first floor. While the lounge opens up to the front of the house overlooking the braai area, the open plan kitchen and dining room open up to the back end, where the patio looks out to the stone garden created by the client.
The client’s desire for clean minimalist lines can be seen in the overall finishes and furnishings of the house, especially in the joinery created by the atmosphere.
The overall concept of simplicity brings about a sense of serenity that is fully articulated in the form, the spatial arrangement and finishings of the House Iyambo.
